I have written two novels and am currently in the revision process. My first novel was an adaptation of one of my plays. I did it as an exercise to "open up" and explore the characters' broader lives. I also used NanoWriMoto to push me to get a first draft done quickly.
One of my favorite things about theatre is the collaborations. Over time, I've learned the importance of those collaborations being aligned. Currently, I am collaborating on a book about effective collaboration to reach your personal and professional goals. My personal essays have been published in several magazines, including Wright Side, Ruminate, and Route 66.
After success with my first short film, Me, Myself, and I, written during the Pandemic, I decided to tackle something larger. After taking several classes, I jumped in and wrote a first draft of "Birds of a Feather." What a challenge coming from playwriting. I've gotten feedback from several industry writers, and now I'm on to the revisions—wish me luck!
